Cadet Direct has presented two skiing bursary cheques for £450.00 to two well deserving cadets. The bursary is for a week long skiing course in Bavaria, Germany next February. Courses to Bavaria are run by CCAT and are open to CFAV’s and cadets aged 16 or over from the ACF and CCF. The two winning cadets were Cadet Sergeant Lauren Hellewell and Colour Sergeant Jess Tappenden-Rowell. Cadet Direct is proud to be involved in sponsoring two really deserving cadets – who otherwise would have been unlikely to be able to attend.

Lauren was nominated by her company which was endorsed by the Commandant for the opportunity next year. She has been a committed and dedicated member of D Company, Durham ACF for the past 4 years and the award recognises her selfless commitment.

Lauren was presented the bursary payment last week in County Headquarters by Greg Potter – our Sales Manager and RSM David Lightfoot the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Cadet Training Centre, Frimley Park.

Colonel Brian Kitching, Commandant Durham ACF said "Sergeant Hellewell’s story is a truly remarkable one showing her determination and resilience to overcome all of the obstacles that have been placed in her way. I am overjoyed that the ACF, and in particular Durham ACF, has helped this young lady overcome her difficulties and helped her become the young lady she has. Her GCSE results just show what can be achieved by anyone, even under the most difficult circumstances and I’m sure her new found confidence will help her achieve her full potential on her ‘A’ levels and beyond. Congratulations".
