I would certainly recommend this
The bag arrived as well packed as you’d expect from Cadet Direct and on first inspection it looked like a good quality bag.
It’s made from an MTP compatible nylon and has a large zipped main compartment that has some padding in to help cushion your laptop and straps to hold it in place as well. It also has an elasticated mesh pocket inside the main compartment. On the outside there are two other zipped pockets.
One has a large removable insert that has various pen slots etc. this is held in place by Velcro and can be moved from the outside pocket to Velcro pad inside the main compartment if you like. The smaller outside pocket is again fully zipped. Also on the outside of the larger pocket there is a smaller zipped pocket as well.
The outside of the bag also several MOLLE/PALS tapes on it to allow for additional bits to be attached (if you feel the need!) and it has two Velcro patches, one for a name tape or similar and the other for a small Velcro badge – think something about the size of your county badge!
Now the features that, for me at least! make this such a great bag are the options it has to carry it and the small attention to detail on it. It has two carry handles, one on the side and one on the ‘top’ that allow you carry it like a briefcase – albeit in a stylish and modern camouflage pattern ;-)
It also has a removable padded shoulder strap allowing you to carry it slung over your shoulder like a ‘traditional’ laptop bag and finally it can be worn like a day sack as it has padded shoulder straps attached to it as well.
Now these are cleverly hidden away inside a zipped compartment on what would be the back of the day sack when you wear it. This area is also nicely padded and vented with mesh as well.
A very neat detail on the bag is that each zip has a small ‘para cord’ zip pull already fitted to it – very handy and it shows the thought that has gone into this bag!
Now I’ve used this for some time now and I can say that I’m very impressed with this bag and it is large enough to easily fit my old laptop in.
In the main I use it as a brief case and I have to say that while I don’t keep my laptop in it I do keep a pile of cadet related papers – lesson plans, handouts, blank paper & spare pencils (there is always a cadet who forgets them..) various items of stationary and any other bits I may need during a cadet evening (manual printouts etc.)
Having the option to carry it on your back is fantastic and I have done this on several occasions and it is comfortable wear like this. I have used it as a shoulder bag, although personally I never seem to get on that well with them preferring a back pack or brief case instead.
So to finish off, I would certainly recommend this if you’re looking for a bag to use on training evenings or weekend to keep your lesson and admin bits in. It would also make an ideal bag for school or college as you can keep all your kit in there and have several options for carrying it as well. It may not be the cheapest bag out there but I certainly feel that it’s worth the cost.
