Very Sturdy and well built, NOT recomended for Road Marching

First impressions of these boots was how good quality they look and its clear to see why they have such a great reputation.
However...I bought these boots after many years of using Magnum Elite II's which I mainly used for road marching (Nijmegen, Ijzer the Death March and among others).
I decided on these boots as they have always been highly recommended for comfort, fit and also the fact that they are able to be re-soled when the sole unit has worn down. Which was in the long term to save cost's as I would need a new pair of Elite II's after 2 seasons of road marching.
After looking around on cadet direct first and then Alt-Berg's own website I decided that I would purchase these. And I drove up to their factory in Catterick to have them fitted. where I was assured I did not need a size 12 and a size 10 1/2 in a wide fitting was what I needed. HOW WRONG THEY WHERE!
The boots where way way too small when walking due to my feet swelling and my feet felt totally crushed after only 5 miles.
After the practice session I rang Alt-Berg who apologised and asked me to go back up to Catterick where they would make me some bespoke one's at NO EXTRA cost...
I did this and because of this these boots took a while to arrive so I only had limited practice time in them before heading out to Nijmegen that year and again i had the same problem, made worse by the heat!
So now I have a pair of Alt-Bergs I can only wear for light duties, such as squadron nights.
Due to the boots really good construction there's little room for them to stretch, I would be dead cautious on buying some of these with road marching in mind after my experience and I have reverted back to my trusted Magnum Elite II's after finding another new pair on ebay!

THE best boot I have ever worn! Expensive, but worth their weight in gold. If they break you can send them to alt-berg with 40 pounds to have them reconditioned!! FAB service and if I could I'd have another pair because they fit so snugly, no blisters at all, no foot cramps, and very springy not to mention feather light compared to other boots! I even find I am more nimble while wearing the boots due to the firmness and springiness of the sole. I wear boots with insoles normally as I suffer with bad arches and they are very accommodating for me too, i do not need to use insoles with these boots because the support of my arches is excellent!
TL;DR best boots I've ever worn. Fab British company.
