Quality Price Delivery Great delivery and price - quality ok
These assult boots do everything they’re supposed to; keep you warm, do all terrain, and are comfortable and lightweight. However, the previous pair I had split down the middle and got seriously worn after 4 months of daily use. I’d expect more out of an assault boot. I did do some stretching and other things that put strain on the sole but I wouldn’t expect that to destroy them so quickly. Other than that, the new pair has held up seriously well in daily walking, I haven’t tried running in the new ones yet though. -
Quality Price Delivery Fabulous boots
Fantastic boots for walking, running, climbing, scrambling and gigging with guitar. Polish up great, fit true to size, no need to break in. Wish I had had them when I was in the army in the seventies...!! -
Quality Price Delivery Great but slow delivery
Love these boots easy to polish a bit wide for narrow feet but a thick pair of socks sort that out. However took forever to come about 5 weeks. But over all great and would recommend -
Quality Price Delivery Recommended for Cadets
Just wanted to let you know that I've recommended Cadet Direct to all my Cadets. After having your boots for a year I feel I can comfortably recommend you, and your returns process has also been fair and simple. Thank you for the boots again!

Quality Price Delivery How the great have fallen
Oh dear.
I'm afraid that my previous review dated 10th October is no longer relevant.
I hate to say this, because the customer care and general helpfulness of the Cadet Direct staff is second to none, but these boots have changed man.
The pair I bought in 2017 were top notch. Totally waterproof, really grippy, lasted ages etc.
I bought a second pair, assuming that they'd be the same thing as last time, since the description and the price were still the same. Not the case.
The first new pair I bought I noticed some differences:
- The fit was narrower (better, actually)
- The sole was made from softer more tacky rubber
- The tongue was no longer leather, instead some sort of laminated fabric.
- The seams and stitching didn't look quite as good
After a month or so the sole came away from the upper on one boot. They were barely broken in. Upon inspection I could tell that the soles were glued, but not stitched. I sent them back for a (no quibbles and prompt) refund.
Upon reassurance that this was a fluke, I bought another new pair. These were identical to the pair I'd just sent back. The forth time I put the boots on the finger loop at the back of the boot snapped. Again, I returned them for a refund.
I don't know what organisation they're buying these boots from but they're certainly not fit for purpose, especially when you can buy genuine army surplus boots for under £40.
Such a shame since these are the only vintage/classic looking new boots I can find which don't have steel toe caps, but there you go.
I'm not bashing the company, just these boots. -
Quality Price Delivery British assault boots
I use these boots for work...very comfortable...great delivery...all round a good boot -
Quality Price Delivery Good service but poor product
I have been wearing this style of boot for many years as a walking boot as i have wide feet and find these very comfortable. Unfortunatly my latest pair were not up to standard due to a change in manufacturer, poor quality & very small for the stated size. The previous supplier `Highlander` were very good boots but these are nothing like. -
Quality Price Delivery Very very good assault boots
I bought these boots last year September and i have had no issue with them. the only reason i have to buy new ones is because i stupidly added hairspray to try to make them shine better. Apart from that these are excellent and will last very long. They shine brilliantly -
Quality Price Delivery Five star cadet boots
I think for the price these are a good starter boot for cadets. I was in the army for 12 years before returning to civi life and now my son's joined the army cadets. These are the boots everyone wears at his unit and he has found them to be comfortable and lightweight. They polish up great as well. -
Quality Price Delivery Poor sizing
The size of the boot ordered no where near matched the size of other boots worn by my husband. Materials were inferior. Dont be fooled into think they are a replica for the army issued boot. -
Quality Price Delivery Not perfect but up there with the best of them
Bought a pair of these assault boots in May 2017 and they've just this week clapped out. I have two pairs of boots which share the daily load. I work in an office with the occasional countryside excursion.
First impressions:
1) Really weird fit. Too wide and not long enough. My toes would hit the end of the boot but no matter how tight I did the laces they'd still feel loose around my foot. This problem was easily overcome by inserting two thick insoles into each boot, and then putting the insole which came with the boot on top. Once they were broken in they fitted perfectly and are totally comfortable.
2) Cheap looking plastic coated / laminated leather and cheap looking imitation stitching on welts.
In practice after broken in:
1) Grippy as a mofo. I have had a lot of boots in my life and I've got base over apex countless times at the music festivals. I have never once slipped over or lost my footing whilst wearing these boots. You can walk straight up muddy hills that other people are getting laughed at for slipping over on.
2) Totally waterproof. That cheap looking laminated leather and fake welts that I mentioned earlier? Turns out that's all part of the master plan. Slap a bit of polish on these bad boys and you can literally stand in a puddle without getting wet. That is, until they begin to wear out. I've never known any other leather boots to be totally waterproof.
3) Hard wearing.
The leather is still totally fine. The waterproof laminated skin has broken and cracked in places, allowing a minor amount of water to seep in, but can be fixed with polish.
The rubber soles split across the ball of the foot. That's what killed them. The grip has not worn out, but the sole has split clean through. This first occurred in August and I fixed it with some superglue. Now the whole sole on the right boot is breaking up and falling apart. Bin job.
Overview:
Good decent pair of boots. Will probably buy again. -
Quality Price Delivery Assault boots that do the job
The assault boots are quite lightweight and thin - no padding at all and leather creases but seem to do the job for my sons cadet training. -
Quality Price Delivery Not terrible Assault Boots
These are more of a look-alike than a reproduction of the original boots. Nothing like the same quality of materials. The real test is how long they last, which I'll find out (hopefully not too soon). -
Quality Price Delivery Army combat boots
Thin leather, but easy to break in. Good cost. Lightweight boot. -
Quality Price Delivery Excellent Combat Boots
Very pleased with the assault boots, very quick delivery too. -
Quality Price Delivery Solid enough combat boots
Good cadet boots for my son - he was happy with them. Polished up well for first parade in uniform. I also got free next day delivery. Definitely recommend to other parents... -
Quality Price Delivery These are NOT genuine issue British Assault Boots
These boots are not the original British Army Assault Boots. I spoke to the company and they are reproductions. I sent these back and got quickly refunded. Just wanted to let other customers know that the real British Assault High Leg Boot are not made anymore. British soldiers now wear Alt-Berg Defenders, Haix, Bates or Magnum boots. -
Quality Price Delivery Good Lightweight Boot
I've had theses lightweight assault boots for more than 12 months now so I feel its time to write my review. After I first got them they took some wearing in (I walked to school in them for a bit which helped). The high leg design does provide good support and has stopped me twisting my ankles a number of times. I've used the boots on exercise and for expedition training and walked loads of miles with no problems. They always polish up well after a good clean and I would recommend to others. -
Quality Price Delivery Poor quality copy
Just what is this boot meant to be? At this price I was expecting a new official MOD item. What arrived was a non-reinforced sole boot with no real toe protection. The stitching down the back of the boot was loose in parts and allowed the leather to flex/move far too much. These boot should be on sale for £20 or so. They box they arrived in had been re-boxed for return. Don't waste your time on these. -
Quality Price Delivery Comfortable and easy to break in...
These boots were comfortable and easy to break in. There was a problem with a split in the sole after 4 months of use but Cadet Direct offered a replacement and I've had no problems since. -
Quality Price Delivery Sizing a bit too small for me
I received the boots, they are really very light which is perfect but unfortunately the size is coming up a bit too small. I bought same model as before in UK size 10 which normally goes well, but this time they were fitting smaller. Should write in the description to order one size bigger. -
Quality Price Delivery Best Boots
My brother first got these boots for cadets in 2010 and used them for about a year. Then I got them after him as I joined cadets and I've loved them; they're really comfy and have lasted a long time and I only need to buy a new pair now. My feet stay dry and they are easy to clean and polish. -
Delivery Quality Price Best online assault boots
I had been looking for black assault boots online as we have to wear black boots at cadets and these were definitely the best I could find. We had to send some back to another supplier before finding these ones. Sizing is good on these and they look like proper assault boots to me. -
Delivery Quality Price We bought these from the Cadet Direct website
I've had these boots since September and they still look good and are comfortable. One thing they don't keep your feet dry forever in the field when raining as the leather does eventually get wet once the polish is washed off but I hope to get some waterproof ones for exercise use. -
Quality Price Delivery Do the job
These are OK boots for parade and fieldcraft as we are only allowed black boots in our detachment at the moment.
-
Price Delivery Quality Indestructible
I must have owned at least 4 pairs of these boots since I started sea cadets and they are virtually invincible. The only reason I actually had to get new ones is because my feet are to big and nothing else and if that happens then you can easily sell them to another cadet for at least £25 as all you have to do is polish them a bit and they will look like they did on day one. -
Delivery Quality Price Good
After 3 months these are still good cadet boots -
Quality Price Delivery Buy these boots!
Bought these boots for my son in Air cadets and they seem a good fit and the Squadron approve the style. -
Price Delivery Quality The ideal boot for a cadet.
I've owned a pair of these boots for an extremely long time (around a few years) and I can honestly say they were worth every penny. The boot is extremely durable and can easily withstand field-craft exercises, long expeditions and long hours of drill practice. In addition they look superb when you give them some love with polish and will make you look extremely smart in parades. They're relatively comfy to wear providing you have the correct socks to prevent blisters etc. .Overall it's a brilliant boot, a bit on the expensive side but if you wear boots often then I'd highly suggest getting yourself a pair of these. -
Quality Price Delivery Combat boots- outstanding
Incredibly easy to get on with, and very easy to break in! This year I am carrying out the 2016 Nijmegen March with Plymouth and cornwall wing, air cadets and these have prevented many blisters! I would and have recommended this product to all of my friends at my local unit. -
Price Delivery Quality Hardcore originals
These boots could survive nearly anything. The rubber on the soles is really tough, and takes a long time to wear through.
The leather is prone to cracking but will last a long time if you polish them regularly like a good cadet, and let them dry slowly at room temperature instead of on a radiator in in an airing cupboard.
They are pretty hit and miss with how they treat you feet. I've had blisters from these (particularly at the back, above the heel), but also days where they've seen me through without a scratch. They WILL punish you if you take them on a long trek without breaking in first.
Great all-rounders. There's a reason they were issued to troops for so long. -
Quality Price Delivery Very sturdy
For the price paid I found these were a very good buy, have had them for about 2 years now with little wear. Would recommend -
Quality Price Delivery Arrived next day
I bought these boots and have used them for one camp and I must say I thought they are more than adequate. -
Price Delivery Quality Great Boots
These Boots have lasted me over a year and they still look fine, they're super comfortable and great for marching. And from own experience they are waterproof. Very satisfied. :) -
Price Delivery Quality Positive
These boots have lasted me a long time, good for marches, excersises and also, once polished , surprisingly waterproof. -
Price Delivery Quality Would recommend them
I would recommend these boots to more junior cadets who attend an average amount of camps/ events. I have had my pair for just under 4 months and they are preforming reasonably well. Once I've grown out of them I'm looking forward to getting some Altbergs though. -
Price Delivery Quality Three years before soles wore out...
Had these for three years now, have been excellent. But now the soles on both boots have begun to crack, allowing the sole to bend the wrong way, no longer waterproof and a bit unstable to walk on. However I may buy another pair as they are excellent whilst they last! -
Quality Price Delivery Very Good
I bought myself a pair of these about 5 months ago, and they are still in basically ship shape condition. A great pair of boots for cadets starting their cadet career. -
Quality Price Delivery Perfect for Cadets
These are good boots, fit for purpose but not exactly great for longer durations. Polished up well and were comfortable. -
Price Delivery Quality Simple and effective
These boots although an older style and not nessesarily as comfortable as some more modern options have proved themselves to me. My previous grafters boots died after a year but my combat highs have lasted 3 years of pretty consistent use and are still going strong. They also look much better than the more modern boots. If your contingent is still in black boots these are the way to go, especially if you can get them from stores
