A great and recommended little cooker for cadets to use
A new improved version of the classic Hexi-cooker which uses a much better, cleaner fuel. It’s lightweight and nice and compact. Also comes with a Fire Steel!
On first glance: it’s a nice compact little cooker, lightweight and can easily slip into a pocket or pouch.
Lighting the fuel gel block was nice and easy, I decided to try with the fire steel and it lit instantly with the first strike! Very impressed, this is definitely a plus for any cadets using it.
The gel liquefied and burnt really well, maybe a bit too well to be fair as I had to add another block of gel to get the water up to a boil – This took all of 9mins 35 secs in total but was plenty hot enough to make a brew.
Clean up afterwards was really simple, nothing like as messy as a Hexi-cooker. A couple of wipes on the damp grass too the majority of the soot off and literally one wipe with a scourer when home and the mess tins were gleaming.
A great and recommended little cooker for cadets to use out in the field: Cheap, lightweight and easy to light with a minimum of clean up afterwards. Replacement fuel blocks are cheap too and readily available.
